Third most exciting day on the house project...

     Best house days so far:
  • The day Terry Bilovus, our architect, finished the blueprints (he has been wonderful to work with and did a great job on the prints)
  • The day the main floor was roughed in so we could see the layout
  • Today, when the trusses started going up

It's a good day!

Been so disheartened that I haven't even posted.... Well, that and there wasn't much to post until today! The trusses have arrived. Also, we were spared rain for the last few days!  😊👍
Crane delivered yesterday!
Miah chauffeured me to the
house to see the crane.
Wood moved to make room for
Consumers to dig trench.
Wall built between garage and house now that
old DTE box was disconnected and removed.
DTE dug trench getting ready to
connect underground service.
Trusses ready and waiting to
start going up tomorrow!

Nothing new again...

I could post the same pictures that I've been posting for a week because it is the same day after day: rain and plastic covering the subfloors. What has changed? Wimsatt, the lumberyard has given us another delivery date for the trusses. This time, it is July 20th, one week from today. I did communicate with Heart Truss & Engineering, the company building the trusses. They are working on them now and say they should be done and delivered by Thursday. Let's hope!

Anyone looking for a good deal on a garage door?
It is in good shape and about five years old.
The door is insulated and 8'x7'.

Only happening today was the electrician fixed something that was wrong.

Today, Chris Campbell, our builder, said that the trusses are over a week away. We are still roofless, as the pictures show. This afternoon, it rained for about ten minutes but came down sideways, in sheets! The floors were soaked and water was pouring into the basement because we did not have plastic down. Cleanup took over an hour! Super sick of doing that!! Looking forward to having interesting progress to post.
Put plastic down again to protect the floors,
basement, and make cleanup quicker.
It's supposed to rain again tonight...

The electrician came out and raised the box.
It was installed too low.

Over 500 hits on this blog! Thanks for caring enough follow :)

Rain, rain, rain until 2:30, and no progress except damage control. Went to the house twice today and cleaned the water up. This was the most we've had in a day. Floors can't take much more rain. Trusses could be another week out: no delivery date.

These pictures don't even show the wet basement.

From Saturday, July 8

My niece, Vivienne, and I saw an American Redstart this week.
Always fun spotting unusual birds.

Saturday morning... getting ready to start water cleanup.

Cement for porch posts in back of house ready to go.

From Friday, July 7 (just after midnight again...)

Super disappointing! No trusses today... not sure when we will get them? As far as I know, progress today was cement poured in the wholes for the porch posts. I'm posting a throw back from moving day. I still can't imagine what I was thinking painting the family room that color 😕. I think it is the same color as "Greenboard."

Adult rated :O

(Picture today at 2:30)
I haven't posted since Thursday, June 29th because nothing has happened to
report. However, I just found out that a couple of things happened at the job site
between yesterday and today.
Consumers put in this sign indicating they will
install power to the new box soon. That's good.
Yesterday, the rest of the chimney was removed. That's the rubble.
This is also very good.
Uh oh. Is that a police car? Yup :(
This happened last night. Creative, huh?
and more...
Apparently, spraying the brick was not enough... had to get the deck too! Grrr!
😡
